Observation. The manager confirmed that they did not go for a walk or play outdoors in the last 2 days. LO discussed the importance of outdoor play.
Corrective action. Please ensure children are provided with the opportunity for daily outdoor active play.

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Outdoor equipment- spring horse place within the outdoor area is heavily worn out, ripped and broken. Sharp plastic edges, metal spring coils and damaged foam pieces were accessible to children.
Corrective action. Please ensure all equipment accessible to children are safely constructed, free from hazard and in good repair.

A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (b) is clean and comfortable.
Observation. Sleeping Arrangements: bedding ( sheets & blankets ) were not available for a playpen and cots used by children during nap time. A discussion was had about providing a sheet for the playpen's mattress for regular cleaning/sanitization. Clean and comfortable bedding should be available for older children.
Corrective action. Please ensure furniture and equipment for sleeping is clean and comfortable.
11110 - CCLR s.15(2)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. - Stairs: some maintenance required to the grip strips on the stairs (worn out and started to lift). Few nails on the stairs are sticking out; these could pose a tripping hazard. - Circle area: small bookshelf needs to be assembled properly for safer stability.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all furniture, equipment and fixtures are in clean and in good repair while children are in care.
