  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - an unlatched drawer within children's reach labeled with a 'stop' sign where adult scissors are stored - two rolling blind chains are unsecured and potentially accessible to children - the enclosure surrounding the outdoor play space has child-sized gaps below the fence in some places due to soil erosion or seasonal folliage changes

    Corrective action. The manager confirmed that the drawer will be secured; the chains will be secured or shortened; the gap below the fence will be covered or filled

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

    Observation. Care plans have not been created to guide staff and support staff in the courses of action recommended to address the needs of children who require extra support.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that care plans are developed with the children's parents and any health care professionals involved.

  • MEDICATION

    A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (b) the nature of the child's medication is such that, without immediate access to the medication by the child, the child's health will be significantly at risk. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Emergency medication is accessible by the staff or children.

    Corrective action. Ensure that medication is not accessible to children in care. The staff moved the medication at the time of the inspection to be out of reach of the children.
