    Observation. - The annual practice of the large scale evacuation plan was not recorded as required. *Resolved during the inspection. Fire drills were practiced monthly and the record was displayed as required. The Licensee confirmed to the Licensing Officer that no revisions to the facility policies and procedures in place had occurred since the last routine inspection.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. - A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 years, and who is ordinarily present on the premises, was expired and required renewal via the Criminal Records Review Program. This person is not employed by the Licensee to work with the children. The documents required to be in place for the Licensee, who personally provides the care to the children, were valid and up to date.

  • C6.1 - Are acceptable hygiene practices maintained?Non-critical

    Observation. - During the inspection, the Licensing Officer observed some of the children drying their hands with the same hand towel. To promote health and hygiene, the Licensee is required to instruct the children to use single use towels after washing their hands.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. - During the inspection, the fridge thermometer showed a temperature of 12°C. To prevent food borne illness, the temperature of the fridge must not exceed 4°C. - The first aid kit was inadequate as it contained expired supplies.

    Observation. - Some sleeping mats were torn and required repair or replacing. - The fridge that stored the children's food required cleaning. - The diaper changing mat was torn and required repair or replacing. In order to ensure proper cleaning/disinfection of the diaper change mat, there must not be any tears. - The hot water at the bathroom sink used by the children measured at 52C today.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. - The criminal record check for the manager has expired. This check must be done via the Criminal Records Review Program in Victoria. The manager's ECE and first aid certificates were valid.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. - Some child records were missing doctor/medical clinic info and emergency contacts other than the parents. Other record keeping systems were reviewed by Licensing (i.e. attendance records, minor incident log, play space maintenance log, etc.) and they appeared satisfactory.

Other record keeping systems were reviewed by Licensing (i.e. attendance records, minor incident log, play space maintenance log, etc.) and they appeared satisfactory.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. - To prevent food borne illness, ensure that the temperature of the fridge used to store food for the children in care does not exceed 4C. - Spray bottles containing cleaning products must be clearly labelled. - Ensure that a 6ft perimeter around climbing equipment, including at the bottom of slides, is maintained to allow for safe exiting and entering of the equipment by the children in care.
