Observation. Since the previous inspection on March 13, 2026, evidence of mice activity is observed by employees, including droppings and the presence of activated traps. The most recent evidence is reported by an employee on April 9, 2026. Additional control measures are implemented, including sealing off any entry points in the roof. An outside agencies is actively engaged and continues to monitor and treat the premise. The agency indicates that, should no further activity be observed within the next 2-3 weeks, the issue is expected to be resolved. This contravention remains unresolved at this time.

Observation. The step stools have non-slip pads adhered to the bottom. Contravention to Child Care Licensing Regulation, Section 15 (1)(a) is resolved. Mice droppings are present in the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) program. Mice impose a health risk including the spread of diseases like hantavirus and salmonellosis. Contravention to Child Care Licensing Regulation, Section 13(1) remains unresolved. Provide an updated/revised detailed written plan by March 18, 2026, on how you will address the mice problem. Reviewed the incident report and facility response for the short-term closure due to a recent flood. Restoration services are involved. Provide the damage reports/findings and a detailed written plan on how the repairs will be done that ensure the health and safety of the children in care.

Observation. The recently practiced emergency/evacuation plan is not recorded. Records are required to indicate each employee practices the plan. Ensure records are up to date and provide evidence by March 20, 2026.

Observation. The complaint information alleges inadequate assessment of potential mold and air quality issues due to flooding over the past few months. The Licensee confirmed water damage to one of the rooms as a result of poor drainage of the outside flower planters. The planters and shrubbery have been removed. The wall has been sealed. Equipment was deployed to dry the inside area and the carpets were cleaned. Moisture meters were used and none was detected. No visible sign of mold or mildew odour present. Unable to substantiate. The complaint information alleged that mice are present at the facility. Mice impose a health risk including the spread of diseases like hantavirus and salmonellosis. At the end of December the Licensee became aware of the mice and acknowledges the problem. Pest control services are currently in place. Traps are in use and early morning cleaning/disinfection is done prior to children arriving. The Licensee states the exterior entry points are sealed and some internal entry points are blocked with steel wool. Evidence of mice droppings, and a snap trap accessible to children is observed in the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) program. Complaint allegation substantiated. Provide a detailed written plan by March 2, 2026, on how you will address the mice problem. The contravention from the February 6, 2026 routine inspection was not reviewed at the time of this inspection and remains outstanding. A study step stool is required for children to access the washroom sink.

Observation. Each staff did not practice the yearly emergency plan done in December 2025. It is important to practice the plan so employees are prepared to respond in a calm, safe and effective manner. Ensure each employee practices the emergency evacuation plan by 31-Mar-2026.

Observation. Some photos/digital images of the children are outdated. Current photos/digital images are important to readily identify a child in an emergency. Ensure photos/digital images are current by 20-Feb-2026.

Observation. The stools in the bathroom are unsturdy. Unsturdy stools could potentially cause a child to slip or fall causing injury. Ensure equipment is sturdy by 13-Feb-2026.

Observation. Children bring their own food in lunch kits with the expectation that ice packs are included. Today, some children's lunch kits did not have ice packs and contained meat and dairy. Ensure appropriate food storage of the children's food. Please submit to licensing on or before the noted follow up date of June 23, 2023, a written plan which addresses how you have corrected the identified contravention. This response and its timeliness will be assessed when completing future risk assessment tools.
