Three Cats Home Daycare

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Sleeping mats were placed in a manner that they were touching each other. Three mats used downstairs and the mattresses used in the upstairs nap room had porous surfaces, making them difficult to clean and disinfect properly.

Corrective action. Licensee stated that mats will be placed with a gap between each mat and that she has five non-porous mats that will be used moving forward, which Licensing observed during the inspection. She also stated that non-porous covers will be used for mattresses in the upstairs nap room.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. 2 children files were missing date of enrolment

Corrective action. Licensee said she will record the dates of enrolment for the two children

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Doctor's name and contact information were not obtained for two children.

Corrective action. Licensee said she will update the child’s file with the missing information.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

Observation. Fire drills have not been practiced monthly.

Corrective action. The licensee said that moving forward, she will practice the fire drill every month.

A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

Observation. There have been more than 2 children under the age of 1 years old in care.

Corrective action. The licensee is to submit a plan as to how this will be addressed.
