• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Immunization status was not obtained for one staff.

• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed that two children requiring Medication was not readily accessible to employees, as they were expired.

  Corrective action. Please ensure medication is current.

  Observation. A child requiring emergency medication expired in November 2021.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all medication that is required for a child in care is current and has not expired.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed emergency supplies at the facility are insufficient to implement the emergency plan, as they expired on August 22, 2020.

  Corrective action. Please ensure emergency supplies are sufficient to implement the emergency plan.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Upon review of 3 staff files, criminal record check was not site specific for 1 staff. Staff informed Licensing that they have applied for a sharing form through the criminal records review program. Licensing Officer saw evidence of the application in staff file.

  Corrective action. Ensure criminal record checks are obtained prior to start of employment.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. On review of the children's attendance records for the 3-5 program Licensing noted 5 children were missing the time of departure on February-05-2021, Manager was able to explain that the children were p/u from outside play. Licensing recommended taking the attendance sheets outdoors to ensure sign in/out was completed.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's attendance demonstrate the time of arrival and departure.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. At the inspection Licensing noted that a care plan had not been reviewed yearly, the last review date was July-02-2018.

  Corrective action. Please ensure care plans are reviewed at least once each year.
