A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that one of the exits was partially blocked by stored toys and dramatic play props placed on the stairway. Manger removed some of the items during inspection.

Corrective action. Manager said the exit will be kept clear.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection Licesning observed: -Cobwebs were observed in the nap room; the manager removed those within children’s reach during the inspection. -Two play carpets had curled edges posing as a tripping hazard; the manager flipped them to straighten the edges.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observation. The hot water temperature in the children's washroom sink was measured at 50.8°C.

Corrective action. Manager will adjust the water temperature to ensure it does not exceed 49°C.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 children files and 3 files were missing date of enrolment.

Corrective action. The manager will update children's file with the date of enrollment, using the day-month-year format.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

Observation. A care plan does not include the course of action recommended by health care professionals for one child requiring additional support.

Corrective action. Manager will contact parents to develop the child's care plan .

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. There was no record of last years emergency evacuation drill.

Corrective action. Please keep a record of the yearly emergency evacuation drills.

Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (c) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained the volunteer.

Corrective action. The Licensee advised she will obtain a record from the volunteer.
