  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. The following was observed in the washrooms: - A cabinet containing cleaning supplies was unlocked and accessible to children - Febreze spray and disinfecting wipes were accessible to children on a shelf.

    Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

    Observation. The emergency exits in both classrooms had flat cardboard boxes, bags of materials and other items stored in front of them. The Manager said that the flat cardboard boxes in front of one of the doors are being used to block the air flow coming in from outside. Licensing explained that there may be another way to cover the air vent without blocking the emergency exit.

    Corrective action. The Manager will remove all of the items stored in front of the emergency exits.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. A bathroom cabinet in the 3-5 program has a broken knob and is in need of repair.

    Corrective action. The Manager will fix the broken knob.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. There is insufficient food and water for 72 hours in the event of an emergency.

    Corrective action. The Manager said that she will purchase more food and water to be included in the emergency supplies.

    Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one staff. Licensing provided the Manager with an immunization declaration form to complete.

    Corrective action. The Manager will ask the staff to complete the immunization declaration form.
