• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

  Observation. One staff's resume was not obtained by the Manager.

  Corrective action. The Manager will obtain the staff's resume and keep a copy in the staff file.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The Manager's name was not posted in a prominent place in the facility.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A site specific CRC was not obtained for one staff.

  Corrective action. The Manager will use the sharing program to share the staff's current CRC to their location.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A staff's ECEA certificate was not validated by the system maintained by the Registry.

  Corrective action. The Manager will validate the staff's ECEA certificate, print out the results and keep in the staff's file.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. The fire drill was not recorded for May 2022. The staff explained that the fire drill was completed, but not recorded.

  Corrective action. Please ensure fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.

  Observation. Staff files were reviewed and one had an expired ECEA certificate validation and one was not obtained for the ECE/IT staff.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all ECE certificates are validated using the system maintained by the Registry.
