    Observation. Licensing observed 11 children present. The Manager said her grandchild usually switches with a child with a part-time spot, but he is present today.

    Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. A CRC from the CRRP was not obtained for 1 staff. The staff has a CRC from the RCMP and Licensing explained that her CRC must be obtained from the CRRP.

    Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

    Observation. A staff's ECEA certificate was not validated by the system maintained by the Registry.

    Corrective action. The Manager will validate the staff's ECEA certificate and keep the results in her file.

    Observation. The number of children in care exceeded the licensed capacity for the facility. The Manager said that there is one child extra because the group is practicing for a graduation party for tomorrow. Licensing explained that the capacity of 10 must not be exceeded at any time.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the maximum capacity is not exceeded.

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

    Observation. No care plan was available for a child with allergies requiring medication. The Manager said that staff are trained verbally on symptoms and what to do in the event the child has an allergic reaction. Licensing explained that there must be written documentation of the care plan.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a current care plan with the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support is available.
