• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

  Observation. The backyard outdoor play area has a gap between the fence and the shrubbery in which children can elope from the facility.

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure the play area is enclosed to prevent children from eloping

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. -Water in the emergency supplies was expired. - Emergency evacuation drill was not recorded

  Corrective action. The manager will replace the water and practice and the record the emergency evacuation drill annually.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Fire drills for January and February 2025 were not recorded. The Manager said that these were practiced but not recorded.

  Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Doctor's information was not obtained for 1 child's file. Licensing explained that if the family does not have a Doctor, information of a walk-in clinic will suffice.

  Corrective action. The Manager will obtain this information and keep in the child's file.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Time in/out was not recorded for today. It was also observed that the time of arrival and departure is not recorded on the sign in/out sheet. Licensing explained that the time of arrival and departure must be recorded everyday.

  Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. The Manager's name was not posted in a prominent place.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the Manager's name is posted in a prominent place.

  Observation. During a review of 9 children's files, it was found that 2 were missing Doctor's info. Manager stated that one of the children just moved here from another province. Licensing explained that a walk-in clinic's information is accepted as Dr's info.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are complete.
