• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A child was not signed in in the upper level classroom. The staff corrected this and recorded the child's arrival time.

• A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees.

  Observation. The facility's nap time policy was not implemented by staff.

  Corrective action. The Manager will ensure that the facility policies are implemented by all staff.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

  Observation. Upon review of children's files, it was found that one child was missing consent to call a medical practioner or an ambulance in case of an emergency.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children's files are complete as per requirements of the CCLR.

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Staff to child ratio was not maintained in the upstairs 3-5 program. There were 2 ECE's and 1 RA with 19 children. Licensing explained the appropriate staffing ratio and the staff said that she did not know she needed to apply for an exemption for an RA.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending the facility is no less than permitted in Schedule E.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

  Observation. The hot water temperature in the bathroom sink was measured at 50° Celsius.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
