Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): There was an insufficient amount of food in the emergency supplies bag. The Manager said that there are some food in the kitchen cabinet, however, Licensing explained that supplies should be in one place in the event of an emergency.

Corrective action. Cleaning products must not be accessible to children in any areas of the facility. The cleaning products were moved during this inspection.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following were observed during this inspection: a sink in the children's bathroom has several cracks in it, the gate separating the play areas and the facility kitchen is missing parts and is not working.
Corrective action. Please ensure all areas of the facility are in good repair. The Licensee will submit a plan to CCFL stating how these items are to be corrected by July 9, 2020.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. The following were accessible to children: A product used in a toilet, cleaning products, sharp knives in a kitchen draw. The cleaning products and the toilet product were removed during this inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to products that could cause harm.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. All children were using the same towel to dry hands on in the kitchen.
Corrective action. To stop the spread of germs single use towels must be available.

A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.
Observation. Marshmallows are being used as an incentive for toilet training.
Corrective action. Food is not to be used as a reward and using food as an incetive during toilet training does not promote healthy eating habits. CCFL discussed ways staff can provide incentives (eg sticker chart) with the manager.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. A fire drill was not carried out and recorded for the month of June 2020.
