  Observation. Lysol, bleach bottles and air spray cans were available to children in all program rooms.

  Corrective action. These items were made inaccessible to children during this inspection.

  Observation. Areas of dry wall are exposed and accessible to children in GC 1.

  Corrective action. The manger will ensure that the drywall is not accessible to children.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Time out was not recorded for the OSC program this morning and absences were not recorded.

  Corrective action. Please ensure time out and absences are recorded.

  Observation. Upon inspection, the emergency water had expired and there was no food available in the event of an emergency for 72 hours.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the emergency food and water is available on site.

  Observation. Upon reviewing the children's records, 8 children's files did not a start date recorded.

  Observation. Upon asking to see the fire drill records, staff could not produce them and said that she hasn't practiced any fire drills in the year that's she's worked at the facility.

  Corrective action. Please ensure each staff practices implementing the fire drill system at least once per month.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Upon review of the staff files, 1 certificate was not verified by the system maintained by the early childhood registry.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the staff files are complete

• Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Licensing determined that children were not divided into groups as per Schedule E.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed 3 different sign in sheets that had 1 or more children not signed in/out.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all daily attendance records reflect the children's arrival and departure times.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Upon inspection, licensing officer reviewed 3 staff files. 1 staff file had a RCMP criminal record check. This is a repeat contravention from routine inspection KCHG-BDWPKV on July 9, 2019.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a staff is not employed until the manager has obtained a criminal record check from the correct CRC agency.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection licensing reviewed 3 staff files, 1 was missing immunization status.

  Corrective action. Manager had staff fill out the form identifying her immunization status.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry, Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, licensing reviewed 3 staff files, 1 staff did not have her ECEA certificate validated.

  Corrective action. Director had certificate validated and added it to the staff file while licensing officer was present.
