• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. The fire drills had not been recorded for 5 consecutive months in 2025.

  Corrective action. The Manager said the fire drills had been practiced but not recorded.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed the Manager's first aid certificate had recently expired

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed lysol cleaning products accessible to the children

  Corrective action. The Manager moved the cleaning products to a shelf in the kitchen inaccesible to the children.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Licensing observed insufficient amount of food supplies for 72-hours in the facility's emergency preparedness kits.

  Corrective action. Please ensure emergency plan sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Licensing observed a care plan that did not show any evidence of being reviewed atleast once a year.

  Corrective action. Please ensure care plans are reviewed with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent atleast once a year.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

  Observation. During inspection of the outdoor play area Licensing observed that several wooden fence panels of the outdoor fence showed visible disrepair with several wooden slats missing with noticeable gaps through which a child could potentially go through and into the neighbour’s yard. One of the fence panel was missing and this section had a large board loosely propped on the opposite side of the fence with a visible large opening showing the neighbour’s backyard. Another fence panel was leaning inward and appeared unstable. Manager is aware of this and is planning to have it repaired. Manager will provide Licesning a plan to use an away play space for children outdoor play till the facility's outdoor area is fully enclosed. Photographs of the fence were taken.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the outdoor play area is enclosed to ensure that children are free from harm.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

  Observation. No care plan available for a child requiring extra support. Manager was able to explain what is needed but there isn't a plan written down to follow.

  Corrective action. Please ensure there is a care plan written and in place for each child who requires extra support.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and 1 file contained a valid criminal record clearance letter addressed to another agency. Manager stated she has the criminal record check clearance for this facility but can't locate it.

  Corrective action. The Manager must ensure that all criminal record clearance letters are addressed to the Licensee prior to the individual providing care to children.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A review of 6 files found that 2 were missing date of enrollment

  Observation. During review of daily attendance records on 2 occasions, 2 children's departure times were not recorded
