• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

  Observation. An activity table was blocking the secondary exit as approved on the emergency evacuation plan. Further discussed with the manager/licensee

  Corrective action. Please ensure a second means of egress is clear for exit at all times.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. On review of 2 staff files, one did not have a current criminal record check. There was a clearance in place from another organization.

  Corrective action. Plesae ensure staff are appropriately screened prior to employment.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. On review of 2 staff files, both were missing validation through the ECE Registry.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff are appropriately screened and documentation is in place for review

• STAFFING

  A licensee must keep (a) in the case of employees, all records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements] for the entire time that the subject of the records is an employee of the community care facility.

  Observation. The manager file was missing the following items: Resume, references and immunization. Manager has not printed them off to add to the file.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are complete and accessible for review.
