A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. On review of two staff files, Licensing observed that the manager file did not have validation of the ECE certification from the ECE Registry.
Corrective action. Please ensure all steps are taken to appropriately screen staff.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. During the routine inspection 7 children's files were reviewed and all 7 children's files did not have an enrollment date.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete. This is a repeat contravention from 2022.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that two fire extinguishers that should have been serviced on January 12, 2023 have not been serviced this calendar year.
Corrective action. Please ensure all fire extinguishers are serviced annually.

Observation. In one of four children's files that were reviewed, there was no evidence of the indicated sex of the child. In two of the four files reviewed, there was no evidence of immunization status of the children.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files include the sex and immunization status.
