Observation. Children are not using single-use hand towels after washing their hands. To prevent the spread of germs and maintain proper hand hygiene, single-use hand towels must be provided and used by children after handwashing. Submit by November 7, 2025, evidence that single-use hand towels are available.

Observation. Different-sized tires used for climbing and walking activities are located adjacent to large posts. The required six-foot clearance around climbing equipment is not maintained. Six feet of clearance around all climbing equipment is required to minimize the risk of injury to children. Submit by November 7, 2025, evidence that the clearance issue has been corrected.

Observation. Fire drill practice records were available for only the 2 most recent months. A system for recording that every employee practices implementing the fire drill system once each month is required. This is a repeat infraction. Emergency plan practice records were available for the past 3 years. A system for recording that every employee practices implementing the emergency plan once each year is required. Inform Licensing of the chosen record-keeping system by the follow-up date above. Records must be kept for at least one year.

Observation. A record of minor incidents was viewed during this inspection, however any illness or injury that is reported to parents must also be recorded. Please inform Licensing how you intend to record illnesses and minor injuries that are communicated to parents. A list of what to inspect on a daily basis was viewed during this inspection, however daily, monthly and yearly outdoor play space inspections had not been recorded. Play space inspections must be recorded and the records must be kept for at least one year. Please inform Licensing how you intend to record play space inspections.

Observation. The facility appears cluttered in some areas, with access to one child's sleep area blocked by laundry. Clear, unhindered access to all areas is required. Please provide proof of accessibility to the child's sleep area before the child uses the area again. A gap that was greater than 3.5" was observed in one corner of the fenced yard. This infraction was corrected during the inspection.

Observation. Criminal Record Check results for another organization have been received by the Licensee, for a person who cleans the facility. Criminal Record Checks must be directed specifically to the organization that requires them.

Observation. A random sampling of children's records found that some files were missing physician name and phone number, and personal health number. A method for ensuring that children's files are complete, prior to starting care, is required.

Observation. Hot water from the tap in the sink where the children wash their hands, measured above 49 degrees Celsius. Director of Licensing Standards of Practice - Safe Play Space (DOLSOP-SPS) provides regulations for outdoor play areas for licensed child care. A slide in the outdoor play space is taller than 3 feet in height, has gaps between the tire stairs that are greater than 3.5", but smaller than 9", and has several tire stairs to get to the top of the slide. A plan for meeting the intent of the DOLSOP-SPS, is required.

Observation. With the addition of an Early Childhood Educator Assistant, an amended staffing plan must be submitted to Licensing. Licence to Operate, Provincial ECE Certificate, Provincial ECEA certificate, and manager's name must be displayed in a prominent location. ECE Certificate was not viewed during inspection, but licensee forwarded a photo of the certificate to the Licensing Officer (LO) after the inspection.

Observation. In the past 6 months one fire drill was recorded. It is a requirement that fire drills be practiced and recorded by each employee monthly. A system for practicing and recording fire and emergency drills was discussed.

Observation. Children's medication was observed by LOs to be on top of the freezer, which could be accessed by a child by climbing onto the bench, then the counter. Please submit an alternate plan for the storage of medication.

Observation. A complete inspection of the outdoor play space was not possible at this inspection, due to snow accumulation, however, a child's folding chair was observed to be partially frozen in the snow, causing a potential tripping hazard, and the safe exit zone for the children's slide is hindered by a build up of ice and snow. A plan for preventing injury from these items is required. Closet doors were observed to be loosely leaning against the wall in the entryway beside the mitten drying rack. The doors must be stored in a manner that will prevent the possibility of them being knocked over and injuring someone. Water temperature in the bathroom where the children washed their hands measured greater than 54°C. ECEA immediately turned down hot water tank further. Regular monitoring of heated water temperature may be required to ensure compliance. The children's outdoor slide appears to be higher than the approved height for toddlers. Please provide a supervision plan that will ensure the safety of children for whom the slide is too tall. Gaps in bathroom cupboard openings is greater than 3.5" and less than 9" which is a potential entrapment hazard. Please submit photos of corrections made by the follow up date.

Observation. Licensee was unaware of 24 hour reporting requirement for Incidents described in Schedule H when a recent facility closure was implemented. Knowledge of the Child Care Licensing Regulation is required for operating a licensed child care facility. Licensee was unaware of the requirement to keep a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events under section 56(f). A child's registration form was found to be missing their personal health number and the name and phone number of their physician. A system for ensuring children's files are complete was discussed during the inspection. A daily attendance record is required for all children, including those living in the home. Licensee was able to locate a digital image of a child, however it is recommended that a system be created for storing identification photos in one location.

Observation. Criminal Record Check, character references and immunization status must be obtained for the person hired to clean while the children are in attendance. Please submit a plan plan to ensure the safety of the children while awaiting Criminal Record Check results. One fire drill was recorded in the past 6 months. A system for practicing and recording fire and emergency drills was discussed.
