  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A corner of a carpet is curling and poses a tripping hazard.

  Corrective action. The corner of the carpet was taped to the floor during this inspection.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The fridge temperature was 7c.

  Corrective action. The temperature was lowered to 4c during this inspection.

  Observation. A criminal record check for one staff has expired.

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure a current criminal record check is available for all staff.

  Observation. An epi pen for one child had passed the expiry date. Staff said they do not think the child needs the epi pen now.

  Corrective action. Staff will confirm with the parents if the child needs an epi pen and if one is needed will obtain one with a current expiry date.

  Observation. Four staff files were reviewed. References were not available in two files.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a minimum of two character references are available in all staff files.

  Observation. Four staff files were reviewed. Evidence of 20 hours of training was not available in one file.

  Corrective action. Please ensure proof of training is available in all staff files.

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. The name of the manager is not posted.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the name of the facility manager is posted.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The time children leave for school in the morning and arrive at the facility after school is not being recorded.

  Corrective action. During this inspection the manager added these times to the time in/out sheet.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Two care plans were not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all care plans are reviewed a minimum of once every 12 months and that the plans are signed and dated.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. The managers criminal record check has expired. Although the manager has made attempts to renew, a valid criminal record check has not been received.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a valid criminal record check is available for the manager.

  Observation. Five staff files were reviewed. Immunization status was not obtained for four staff.

  Corrective action. Please ensure immunization status in available for all staff.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

  Observation. the following pieces of equipment are in need of repair or replacement, the carpet in room 7 is wrinkled causing a tripping hazard, as well there is a hole near the staff desk, the green bench the wood is rough and splintering please ensure the wood is smooth, the couch in room 6 are showing signs of wear making it difficult to clean,

  Corrective action. please ensure all the above are repaired or replaced to ensure the continued health and safety of the children in care,
