    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Items with a label to keep out of reach of children were present and accessible in the bathroom. (Lysol wipes, Febreez, Hand sanitizer).

    Corrective action. Manager said they will remove those items.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing tested the hot water temperature of the children’s sinks in the classroom, they were reading at 53.8 degree and 49.8 degree.

    Corrective action. The Manager will inquire the building maintenance team to have the hot water temperature corrected to below 49 degree. Supervision plan will be in place while children use the sink.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. Upon review 6 staff files, one staff criminal record check is not site specific, instead, it was a copy addressed for another other organization.

    Corrective action. The Manager confirmed the staff did not have a criminal record check obtained by the Licensee and the Licensee will obtain one. Compliance plan to work with another staff until CRC is received.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following substances that were accessible to children in an unlocked cabinet; - In one classrom under the sink; bleach spray and other cleaning products - In the second classroom under the sink; toilet bowl cleaner and lysol wipes Staff corrected this by locking the cabinet.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Education was provided on the steps to complete this.
