    A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

    Observation. Of 3 employee files reviewed, one staff who works alone at times had an expired first aid certificate, which expired in July of 2025.

    Corrective action. Licensee said the staff will not work alone until the first aid certificate has been updated.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): validation for one early childhood educator had not been completed.

    Corrective action. This was corrected during the inspection.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensee observed garbage bags located in a drawer and cupboard children were accessing at the time of inspection.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. Licensing observed children and staff had not washed hands prior to serving snacks.

    Corrective action. Licensee will consider a system and provide a written response.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

    Observation. One child who requires a care plan had no care plan detailing courses of action recommended by health care professionals.In addition the emergency medications are expired.

    Corrective action. Licensee said they will connect with the parent and create a care plan that will include the courses of action recommended by health care professionals.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed two employee files and found they both had no record of immunization.

    Corrective action. Licensee will add the declaration form into both staff files.
