A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. The manager said they completed the annual emergency evacuation drill, however they had not documented it. Licensing observed a "lock down" drill had been documented in the fire drill log book, in addition to fire drills which had been logged monthly. Licensing shared information and resources around evacuation drills.
Corrective action. Licensee will consider a plan to ensure the annual evacuation plan is documented.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing had not observed the name of manager, as identified as the manager posted in a prominent place.
Corrective action. This was corrected during the inspection
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 employee files and found the following items were not obtained by the licensee: -1 employee's criminal record check. -1 employee's immunization status. -1 employee's resume. -3 employee's references did not have record of having been checked.
Corrective action. Licensee will create a plan to ensure all records are current as required, and will provide a written response with corrective actions taken on or before April 24, 2024

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed several basket balls were stored in the bathroom, on the floor, accessible to children when using the washroom. This is a cause for concern for hygiene purposes.

Observation. On review of emergency plans, Licensing observed that the annual emergency evacuation drill was not recorded. The Manager explained the facility drill as it was practiced.

Observation. On review of 5 staff files, Licensing observd that 2 were missing certification validation. This is a repeat contravention
Corrective action. Please ensure a system in in place to validate employee certificates upon employ or when renewing certification from the ECE Registry.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. On review of 5 staff files, Licensing observed 2 that were not site specific, but were current.
Corrective action. Please ensure all criminal record checks are acquired through the facility's process for staff screening.

There was a safety lock on the cupboard door but was not engaged at the time of inspection.
