• STAFFING

  The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

  Observation. Criminal record checks for the Licensee and those ordinarily present have expired.

  Corrective action. The licensee will apply for them. Licensing Officer will provide documents regarding the new process for applying for checks..

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Observed metal barbecue skewers, tree branch trimmer, ladder, electric cords, pressure washer and propane tank in the outdoor play area which could present risk of injury while playing outdoor and accessing outdoor play space.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to items which may be hazardous to their health or safety of the children,

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed toys and food on the floor indoors, gardening tools such as shovels and rake outdoors.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a safe environment is provided at all times while children are at the facility.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 attendance records and noted 6 children were not signed out.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the attendance records indicate time of arrival and departure when children are present.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

  Observation. Licensing noted a fire extinguisher was available on site, however, was unable to determine when it was last serviced.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced yearly.
