Observation. Licensing reviewed 2 employee files, one file contained a validation for a certification that expired in 2021.
Corrective action. The manager will obtain a current copy of the validation from the licensee.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Evacuation and Fire drills had been practiced, however the evacuation drill practice for this year had not been documented.
Corrective action. The manager said she will document the drill.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation. Licensing reviewed employee files, and found that one employee who had worked in the program last week had no file available for review. The validation of one Early Childhood Educator's certification had been validated, however record was not available for review at the time of inspection. The manager said the file information was held at another location.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure that records are held for the employee.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One electrical outlet were uncovered and accessible where children play. This was corrected by staff during the inspection.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. Licensing reviewed the emergency evacuation plans. There was no record of having practiced the emergency plan. Staff said they had completed the practice, however the documentation was at the head office.
Corrective action. Please ensure that each employee practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Three staff files were reviewed, one staff file was not site specific.
Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain a criminal record check that is site specific.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Twelve children's records were reviewed. One record did not contain the Medical Services Plan number for one child in care.
Corrective action. Please ensure to keep the MSP number on record.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation. Three staff records were reviewed. Manager stated the staff had updated her certification, and the validation, and another staff CRC had been renewed, and were kept with the licensee. The CRC for the staff was obtained during inspection, however the other staff file containing the updated certification, and validation were not located.
Corrective action. Please ensure to keep records in a single place at the community care facility.
