    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed children's furniture positioned next to a railing in a children's raised play space which poses a potential fall risk if a child were to climb on the furniture.

    Corrective action. A staff removed the furniture from the raised play space during the inspection to ensure no risk of falling.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed an air purification device placed on a shelf above children's height. The device and the cord were not secured which could pose a risk of injury if it were to fall on a child in the event of an earthquake or the child pulling the cord.

    Corrective action. The manager removed the risk by removing the device from the shelf.

    Observation. There were no written directions specified by the parent or care plan regarding the administration of medication.

    Corrective action. Ensure that all children's files are complete. LO discussed about including all the necessary information in the care plan & medication administration consent form.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the kitchen door open in the Group Child Care (30 month to school age) space. In the kitchen is a hot water urn that was hot to the touch and this is accessible to children. Licensing does acknowledge that supervision is maintained whilst children are in the play space and that there is a STOP notice at the door of the kitchen but the potential risk remains for scalding/burn should a child wander in the kitchen and touch it.

    Corrective action. Please ensure this area is inaccessible to children at all times.
