    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. While inspecting the outdoor play area Licensing observed a climbing toy on a cement pad.

    Corrective action. The licensee said the climbing toy will either be moved to a safer area or removed from the play area.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. A cleaning product and some containers of sunscreen were found under the change table accessible to the children.

    Corrective action. During the inspection the cleaner was removed and the licensee said the sunscreens would also be removed from this area.

    The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. Care plan not developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent. There was non prescribed medication to be used instead of the Epipen. It was observed that the Epipen had expired in October.

    Corrective action. Licensee will be developing the care plan in collaboration with the parent. Licensee will discuss with the parent to get the clear instructions on use of non prescribed medication. Licensee will be discussing with the parent the expiration date on the Epipen or get a note from the doctor/pharmacist to use the expired Epipen.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following during the routine inspection: -Personal items i.e perfume, tweezer and personal toothbrush are accessible to children in the bathroom. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) -Children were observed jumping on the sleeping mats in the nap room.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the personal items are not accessible to children. Children's bedding is put away after each use if the nap room is used for gross motor play.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Electrical cords in the play room were accessible to children. The bedding is stored on top of the mats.The bedding is washed once a week and is left on the mats, stacked on top of each other. Personal items are stored in the unlocked drawer and on the bathroom counter.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the safe environment is provided to children at all times i.e electrical cords are moved away so that children cannot reach them, bedding used for children is stored separately and the personal items are stored in the locked drawer or where they are not accessible to children.

    Observation. Attendance record found to be recorded with arrival and departure with exception of last two days of the week.

    Corrective action. Ensure that attendance record is maintained on a daily basis with time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. It was noted that one of four children's files reviewed did not contain a photo or digital image.
