  Observation. Licensing reviewed ten children's files. One file did not contain a medical insurance plan number.

  Corrective action. Ensure a record is kept for each child showing the medical insurance plan number.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed ten children's files. One file did not contain the contact number for the medical practitioner.

• A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: evidence that the person has complied with the Province’s immunization and tuberculosis control programs

  Observation. Licensing reviewed thirteen staff files. One file did not contain immunization status.

  Corrective action. Ensure evidence is obtained showing that the employee has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

• Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9

  Observation. Licensing observed that elevated play equipment and a play house was added to the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program outdoor play space. Licensing was not notified of the changes to the outdoor play space. Staff stated that the outdoor play space changes occurred in May 2023 and an outdoor play plan included going for walks and using the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) play space when the children were not using it.

  3070 - CCLR 10(1)
• For prevention of entrapment, spaces (i.e., holes/openings) must be smaller than 9 cm (3.5 inches) or larger than 23 cm (9 inches). Use Head & Torso test probes

  Observation. Licensing observed on an elevated playground structure (measured 2.4 ft height) in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program outdoor play space the space between railings were 4 inches. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of persons in care and must be corrected immediately. The Licensee Contact stated that the children would not use the playground equipment until the gaps would be repaired. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.

  Corrective action. Ensure that for the prevention of entrapment, spaces (holes/openings) must be smaller than 3.5 inches or larger than 9 inches.

  3000 - SPS DOLSOP (Entrapment)
• A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: a criminal record check for the person

  Observation. Licensing audited seven staff files and one staff file was missing a criminal record check. The staff file contained a criminal record check obtained from another organization.

  Corrective action. Ensure that all staff files contain a record of a criminal record check.

  3010 - CCLR 19(1)(a)
• The licensee must develop the care plan in consultation,with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Licensing observed a care plan that had been updated that had not been developed in consultation with a parent.

  Corrective action. Ensure that care plans that are developed for a child requiring extra support is done in consultation with a parent and any person requested by a parent.

  Observation. During the inspection Licensing was made aware that an Early Childhood Educator Assistant for the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) was scheduled for the closing shift and care categories where not being mixed at the end of the day.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff to child ratio is maintained.

• A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (b) to release a child to someone other than the parent.

  Observation. Licensing audited 8 children's files,6 files were missing permission to release a child to someone other than a parent.

  Corrective action. Ensure a record to release a child to someone other than a parent is kept.

  Observation. Licensing audited 8 children files, 2 files were missing emergency contacts.

  Corrective action. Ensure for each child a name and telephone number of a emergency contact is kept on file.
