- A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as School Age Care on School Grounds, must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. Licensing tested two sinks where children access hot water and the temperature for one sink in the girls washroom was 50.9 ° Celsius. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of children in care and must be corrected immediately. Manager stated they had low enrollment and they would only use the washbasin in the room. They would request to have the water temperature lowered before they have 11 children enrolled. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.
Corrective action. Ensure person in care do not have access to water greater than 49 degrees Celsius.

Observation. Licensing arrived and there were six children with two staff, ECEA and RA. The staff qualifications are non complainant as per Schedule E of the Child Care Licensing Regulations. For Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age), Schedule E indicates that staff qualifications should be an ECE. This item is a carry-over from a Follow up Inspection dated September 21, 2022.
Corrective action. Ensure the ratio of employees to children is no less than in Schedule E.

Observation. Licensing observed the slide closed off. Manager stated the slide was closed because the awning on the building next to the slide was falling apart and it was a safety risk to the children. Additionally, Manager stated they were using the field and the gym instead of the slide area.
Corrective action. Ensure a medical health officer is notified immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.
