    Observation. Not all care programs provide children with outdoor play daily. To support good health and reduce sedentary behaviours, children are required to be provided with outdoor play daily. Submit by March 24, 2026, confirmation that all children are provided with daily outdoor play.

    Observation. Children's drink bottles are only washed and sanitized once a week. Children’s drink bottles must be washed and sanitized daily to prevent the rapid growth of bacteria. Submit by March 24, 2026, confirmation that children's drink bottles are washed and sanitized daily. Children have access to a broken plastic picnic table in the outdoor play space. Equipment is required to be kept in good repair. Submit by March 24, 2026, confirmation that the equipment is in good repair.

    Observation. The Licensing Officer observed a child's care plan which was last updated in June 2023. The manager indicated that the care plan was reviewed and updated in the beginning of this year, however, they are unable to find a copy of the updated care plan. Ensure care plans are kept in a single location at the facility.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. The Licensing Officer observed the following in outdoor play space: • The metal outdoor bench was in poor condition. The bench had chipped/peeling paint and it is starting to rust. This may pose a potential risk to children. • There were sharp nails pointing out of a wooden play structure and a wooden easel stand. This may pose a risk to children. • A wading pool was leaning against the wall which may pose a potential risk of injuries to children. • A large plastic toy storage bin was found to have broken edge which may pose a potential risk of pinching to children. Ensure the outdoor play space is free from hazard and in good repair.

    Observation. Expired first aid items were found in several first aid kits. Some of the food in the emergency grab and go bags were expired. Some outdoor play equipment is no longer in good repair: - The water trough stand has rotted, exposing rusty screws on one corner. - The playhouse in the large playground has started to rot, there is a hole in the roof, and the front wall is no longer securely fastened.

    Observation. C7.2A - Regulation 14(1) - There is an current exemption to section 14(1) in the group child care (school age) program indoor space. The applicable indoor space allows for a maximum capacity of 13 children at any one time, however, the exemption allows for exceeding the 3.7 m2 requirement and allowing up to 16 children for the duration of the operation of the facility. During the inspection, the Licensee acknowledged that there has been up to 18 children present in the group child care (school age) program indoor space. Please submit in writing to Licensing a plan of how you will come into immediate compliance.

  • C10.2 - Are children supervised, and are employee to children ratios maintained?Critical

    Observation. C10.2B - Regulation 34(2)(a) The group child care (school age) program is licensed for a maximum capacity of 16 children at any one time. During the inspection, attendance records were reviewed for all facility programs and the group child care (school age) program was observed having 17 children in attendance on September 1, 2, and 29, and 18, 2021, and 18 children in attendance on September 28, 2021. During the inspection, the Licensee acknowledged that there has been up to 18 children present in the group child care (school age) program indoor space. Please submit in writing to Licensing a plan of how you will come into immediate compliance.
