If a child is approved to self-administer medication there must be a care plan in place, and the employee who supervises the child must document the administration of the medication. Submit by September 23, 2025, confirmation that children who self-administer medication have a care plan.

  • C6.1 - Are acceptable hygiene practices maintained?Non-critical

    Observation. Some children eat their afternoon snack outside. These children have baby wipes for hand hygiene, but do not wash their hands prior to eating their afternoon snack. Good hand hygiene is a crucial step in the prevention of infections and is the single most effective way to reduce the transmission of infectious diseases. Submit by September 23, 2025, confirmation that children are engaging in good hand hygiene practices.

  • C8.2 - Is each child provided a comprehensive and coordinated program of developmentally appropriate activities that encourages physical, intellectual, language, emotional, and social development?Non-critical

    Observation. Some children start the afternoon care inside, and others start their care outdoors. The children who start inside do not get daily outdoor play. To support good health and reduce sedentary behaviours, children are required to be provided with outdoor play daily. Submit by September 23, 2025, confirmation that all children are provided with daily outdoor play.

    Observation. The minor incidents, and illnesses records were reviewed. It was confirmed by the Licensee that no illnesses and only some minor incidents were recorded. The Licensee must keep a record of minor incidents, illnesses, and unexpected events. Submit by September 23, 2025, confirmation that all minor incidents, illnesses, and unexpected events are now being recorded. The fire drill log was reviewed. The fire drill practice completed in August 2025 was not recorded. The Licensee must keep a record confirming that all employees have practiced the fire drill at least monthly. Submit by September 23, 2025, confirmation that this has been corrected.

    Observation. At the time of the inspection, it was indicated that a new facility manager has been hired. Licensing has not been notified of this change. Ensure Licensing is immediately notified of any changes in the information provided in the application.

    Observation. - Upon reviewing employee records, a criminal record check clearance letter was found missing for an employee who was working in the program at the time of inspection. Ensure a valid criminal record check clearance letter is received prior to any employees working with children. - It was observed that the facility employees did not practice implementing the fire drill system during the month of June, 2024. Ensure each employee practice implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

    Observation. Upon reviewing children's records, the daily attendance record was found incomplete as it was missing a few children's departure times from the program. Ensure daily attendance record indicates the times of arrival and departure of children.

    Observation. Children were allowed to re-enter the school to use the bathroom. The children were out of sight and unsupervised for several minutes.

    Observation. Staff records were missing immunization status, work history, and reference checks. A staff person working alone with the children did not hold a first aid certificate that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
