  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. LO observed that the rooms and materials appear in good condition. Manager explained that there is a maintenance plan in place with staff sharing items noted with manager. The following areas were noted as requiring attention: - deep cleaning for the bathrooms (including step stools, soap dispensers / bottles, toilet paper roll holder broken in at least one room, walls in bathroom / cupboards and some areas of room stained/discoloured, chips in walls (mostly noted in naproom). It was also observed that Naprooms are being used for storage of equipment, toys and other items including a free standing coat rack that is over 4 feet and is not secured. While staff stated that they are in the naproom with children, these spaces are becoming cluttered and being used for mor than intended (upon licnece).

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. While the outdoor space is fully enclosed, there is a fence speparating the two spaces for this age group that has openings. Due to the openings, children were observed to wander between the two spaces even though there were two groups of children in each space. LO is aware that the space was licenced with this fence, but it was noted that maximum capacity for each space is two groups of 12 GCC (under 36 months). LO also observed that there appears to be a lack of outdoor equipment and while there is storage, it is not designed for ease of use and ability to store equipment in an organized manner.

  Observation. LO observed area rugs in several classrooms that appear soiled and in need of a clean. LO observed a floor cushion in one classroom that appears soiled and in need of a clean. LO observed that walls in several classroom areas have chipped paint and drywall. LO observed that one nap room pocket door squeaks loudly when opening and closing.
