The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. LO observed that the rooms and materials appear in good condition. Manager explained that there is a maintenance plan in place with staff sharing items noted with manager. The following areas were noted as requiring attention: - deep cleaning for the bathrooms (including step stools, soap dispensers / bottles, toilet paper roll holder broken in at least one room, walls in bathroom / cupboards and some areas of room stained/discoloured, chips in walls.

All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

Observation. The outdoor space fo this group is full enclosed and appears safe, but LO obseerved that there appearst to be a lack of outdoor equipment and while there is storage, it is not designed for ease of use and ability to store equipment in an organized manner.

The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

Observation. Children have emergency cards available in each room, these cards include most required information (for children's records) with the exception of start date and permission to administer emergency care. LO also reviewed a sampling of children's files and observed that they seem complete with all required information. There was one child observed with no Emergency card in the backpack that staff use when off site, therefore, there are times when staff do not have access to their information.

Observation. LO observed an area rug in one classroom that appears soiled and in need of a clean. LO observed that walls in several classroom areas have chipped paint and drywall.

Evidence of compliance with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs has not been obtained. [CCLR Sec.19(1)(b)]; Character references have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec.19(1)(b)]; Criminal record checks have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)(a)]

Observation. LO observed that documentation is not complete for several staff.
