  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Maple Seed room - north nap room The crank handle on the pop out window is broken and has been for some time. A work order has been submitted but not yet acted on. There is a piece of tape on the frame warning folks not to use the window to prevent further damage. Overall the furnishings and equipment, etc. are in satisfactory condition. Some wood pieces are wearing better than others. Manager and staff teams are monitoring. Outdoors - Discussed with manager which vegetation was thriving and which required attention. We noted that two trees are showing signs of ill health (fungus?). Manager will follow up with the neighbourhood house and see if there is a master gardener that could advise. Please inform CCFL if the trees need to be replaced and we can offer support.

  For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

  Observation. Licensing observed one child with an inhaler for asthma. Staff mentioned that it has never been used at daycare before and the family provided this as a precaution as it happened to the child one time. A discussion was had in regards to the importance of having a care plan for each child who brings in medication and has the potential of being triggered.
