  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Noted the large container and marked off area on the east side of the outdoor play yard. Manager reported that this is the storage area for items related to a repair on the Napier facing part of the yard / building. Manager pointed out the cracked and damaged lattice work alongside the east property line next to the property abutting the church outdoor play yard. A pond has been created alongside the bridge in the central grotto area of the yard. Further work is to be done on the pond. Currently the area is secured with temporary plastic netting and stakes. Staff are vigilant in supervising this area of the yard. Discussed the need for a permanent means of securing the area via fencing & plantings to ensure safety of children.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. The boiler is failing and requires replacement. The facility no longer has heat. So far they have hot water but this may fail next. This is an urgent replacement that requires immediate attention.
