- MEDICATION / MedicationNon-critical
The medications are not readily accessible to employees. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)(b)]
Observation. Licensing observed one child in care who requires an Epi-pen. Licensing observed during outdoor play, the Epi-pen for the child was left indoors and was not readily accessible to staff outside with the children. This poses as a hazard. A discussion was held around options for Epi-pen storage while outside. Options discussed included keeping the Epi-pen in the first aid kit that is brought outside.
- RECORDS AND REPORTING / Care PlansNon-critical
For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]
Observation. Licensing observed an inhaler for one child on site. No care plan was observed for this child showing the required information.
- RECORDS AND REPORTING / Notification of illness or injuryNon-critical
Licensing is notified within 24 hours after a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H or has a reportable communicable disease. [CCLR Sec.55(2)(a)(b)]
Observation. Licensing observed in the facilities log book that the facility was closed on December 20th due to snow. Closure or any condition or event which could reasonably be expected to impair the ability of the Licensee, their employees to provide care falls under the reportable incident type "service delivery problem." Licensing requires an incident report for this day of closure.
- RECORDS AND REPORTING / Records For Each ChildNon-critical
A record for each child containing any medication administered to the child, including the amount and the time at which the medication was administered is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(f)]
Observation. Licensing observed in the facilities log book that medication was given to two separate children on October 17, 2022 and on November 07, 2022. No request for administration of medication form was observed on file for both children indicating the medication given or the amount. Licensing will provide the request for administration of medication.

Reviews
We feel incredibly lucky and grateful that our son has spent his final two years of daycare at this truly special place - South Hill. From the very beginning, it was clear that this is not just a daycare—it’s a joyful, loving, and nurturing environment where kids are encouraged to simply be kids. The teachers are fun, caring, thoughtful, and full of love. They genuinely care about each child's happiness and development, and they go above and beyond to create meaningful experiences through play-based learning. The focus here isn’t on rushing academics, but rather on helping kids build confidence, friendships, and curiosity—knowing that academic learning will naturally come later in school. What makes this daycare stand out are the little things that turn into big memories. The teachers decorate the classroom with beautiful, themed walls for cultural celebrations like Lunar New Year, and use those moments to teach children about diversity, language, and respect. They have amazing field trips like the annual pumpkin patch ride on a yellow school bus (a huge hit with the kids!), petting zoos, pool parties, bike days, baking activities, and even a summer visit from a police officer complete with a real police car for show and tell. While academics aren’t the main focus, the daycare thoughtfully carves out time for the older, graduating kids to begin exploring writing, drawing, early science concepts (like space!), and language through songs—at a time when their brains are more ready. Most importantly, our son loves going to daycare. He’s excited every morning (often forgetting to say goodbye!) and doesn’t want to leave when the day is over. He’s made wonderful friends, and we’ve seen him grow into a happy, kind, and confident little person. We are so thankful for this magical place that gave him a childhood full of fun, play, learning, and love. I truly can’t thank the teachers enough for the love, care, and creativity they bring every single day. We couldn’t have asked for a more loving and enriching place for him to grow. PS: Oh almost forgot to mention that the teachers also take allergies very seriously and diligently follow all safety measures, which gives us so much peace of mind.
My son spent two wonderful years here from ages 3-5. Usha and the amazing team of caring, friendly staff foster an environment of kindness, education, and creativity. Highly recommend!
Both our kids spent 2 amazing years at South Hill. Usha and her staff are caring so much for the kids. While we now embark in the next chapter our lives, we are definitely going to miss everyone. We really recommend it.
My youngest child has attended south hill for 7 months and it has been the best! We love the workers here, they care so much for the little people and make sure they are well taken care of. They spend some of their time in structured playtime, some in in free play and some time outside each day. They are now a 10 dollar a day, daycare as well!
