  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed the following: -In the kitchen, next to the fridge, an unsecured wooden cabinet with glass components, which poses a risk of harm if it were to tip or fall on a child in care. -In the additional playroom and nap room, a window was observed open beyond 4 inches, which may pose a safety risk. A discussion was held with the Manager regarding measures to prevent accidental falls.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed one record in which written parental consent to contact a medical practitioner or ambulance in the event of an accident or illness was not on file.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certificate for 1 staff has not been verified by the Registry.

  Observation. Licensing Officer did not observe documentation indicating that fire drills are being practiced at least once per month. Staff stated that a fire drill was conducted for the month of May however it was not documented.
