    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. The space appears well organized and cleaned on a daily basis. Due to the age of this building as well as the age of the materials and equipment, you are starting to see wear and tear throughout. Such as - Bathroom staff dividers as rusty, step stools require a deep clean, the walls and carpet (fraying). There is also areas of the shelving that are wearing and are unable to be sanitized due to the wear.

    Observation. Of the children enrolled, all but three have complete emergency cards. While two of these children have emergency contact (in addition to parents) in their file, it is not included on their emergency card. There is one child who has no information on file for emergency contact (in addition to parent) and Doctor information (or name of walk in clinic visited).

    Observation. One child in care has an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and has a speech delay. The BC Centre of Ability consultant has visited twice. There is no care plan in place for the child.

    Each child is provided with daily outdoor play periods unless weather conditions make it unreasonable to do so. [CCLR Sec.44(3)]

    Observation. The program has no contagious outdoor play space and uses nearby Ebisu Park for outdoor play. The programs Active Play Policy states "mandatory 40 minutes of outdoor play, rain or shine". The program manager stated that due to rainy weather for the week of January 3-7 they had not gone outside, for the week of Jan 10-14 they had gone outside once and this week they planned to go outside the day of the inspection. All other days they had used the gym for active play. In order for licensing to assess future compliance with Section 44(3) it is requested that daily outdoor play is documented. Suggested sections to document are: date and time of day daily outdoor play took place, where outdoor play took place, activities provided, weather condition.
