    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor space: *tangled water hose in the playground - this could pose as a tripping hazard. *a blue cow ride on toy with its ear appeared to be torn, exposing the inner foam- This item is no longer in good repair and is not easy to clean.

    Ground Surfacing: The playground surface is free of standing water and debris. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

    Observation. Licensing observed standing water inside the tires and a water table tub in the playground. This observation was shared with the educator. A discussion took place about removing standing water prior to children accessing these play materials.

    Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following for the Toddlers Program in their shared outdoor space: When it was time for the toddlers’ scheduled outdoor play, the playground was still equipped with the play materials that had previously been set up and used by 3-5 children. A discussion was held with the educator, the playground must be re-set up in a manner that is appropriate to the developmental needs of the children intended to use it. At the time of inspection, Licensing did not observe an adequate amount of toys or equipment available for toddlers. Please note that equipment such as a fabric hanging swing and trapeze swing bars/monkey bars are not age appropriate for young toddlers.

    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: Indoor: *educators follow 2 step cleaning/disinfecting method. *liquid hand soap and single use hand towels available at sinks. *electrical cord securely anchored - inaccessible by children. Outdoor: *several wooden logs and boards appeared slippery. This could pose as a safety hazard should a child slip or fall on them. *several headless nails being exposed on the ground by the mud kitchen- a rubber mat is being placed on top to prevent children from accessing. *The wooden boards located adjacent to the sandbox appeared to be broken and sunken in when standing on them. A large door mat is being placed on top to prevent any risks of falling or entrapment. Permanent repair is required as these wooden boards could pose as a tripping hazard.

    There is an established program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. [CCLR Sec. 46(1)]

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed three children at the snack table that had runny noses. Licensing informed the Educator of this. The Educator then wiped the children's noses and then sat down and continues to serve the children snack, without washing their hands.

    Observation. Licensing observed that one of the taps in the washroom was broken. The Manager stated they are have contacted the company and are waiting for a replacement.

    Observation. Licensing observed in the toddler room four children and an Educator sitting at the snack table eating snack. Another child came and wanted to have snack, the Educator gave the child a chair beside the snack table and told the child to sit and wait 5 minutes for snack.

    Observation. Licensing observed in the infant room the gate that blocks the kitchen from the main activity space was missing. . One of the Educator's informed Licensing that is was broken and that the Manager has ordered a replacement.
