  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The outdoor play space is an above grade space on the corner of the premise. Some of this space has appropriate fencing. However, there is a large portion with three foot fencing with a nine foot drop off. This is a potential risk in the event a child was to climb or fall over the fencing. In addition some of the fence boards are beginning to rot and breaking away from the main boards and the metal pieces on one corner of the fence are sticking out from the fence and could pose a potential risk if a child was to bump or fall into one of these pieces.. The staircase is also showing signs of disrepair.

Corrective action. The facility is required to submit an action plan as to what changes will be made to this space to make it safe or propose an alternate outdoor play space.
