• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Some chipping paint and signs of wear and tear on the facility walls. -The fabric on a chair in Gracepoint North is in disrepair. -A step stool in Gracepoint North's children's washroom needs cleaning.

  Corrective action. Ensure the CCF and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair.

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed: -Tools which pose a hazard to children in care, accessible in the Gracepoint South and North.

  Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of children in care.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Licensing observed expired food in an emergency kit (North).

  Corrective action. Ensure a system for emergency supply refresh is established.

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

  Observation. Licensing observe that a fire drill had not been conducted for the month of December (Gracepoint upper).

  Corrective action. Ensure that each employee practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Upon an inspection of a random sampling of staff files, Licensing observed that one staff file contained a non site/organization specific criminal record check.

  Corrective action. Ensure a site/organization specific criminal record check is obtained before the start of employment.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed soiled pull ups and used disposable gloves in an uncovered garbage can in one of the children's washrooms.

  Corrective action. Please ensure soiled pull-ups and supplies for providing hygienic diapering of a child are disposed of in a healthy/safe manner. ie: a covered garbage can.
