A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. The following was noted: -Foam climber in play area, the material has started to peel, not allowing it to be adequately cleaned. -Both cribs within the nap room have started to peel paint along the top railing.

Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before February 27, 2026

Observation. Few areas by the bay window where the drywall appears to have been picked, exposing the metal below.

Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before February 12, 2025

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Criminal record check for a sub staff has not been obtained by the employer. There is a CRC on site which was obtained by another organization but it has not been shared with the Licensee.

Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before February 12, 2025

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed that the cubbies are not secured. Potential to fall on a child during an earthquake.

Corrective action. The Manager said that the cubbies will be secured to the wall.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a cutting knife in an unlocked kitchen drawer.

Corrective action. The Manager said that all knives will removed from the unlocked drawer.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (c) produce records, on demand, to the medical health officer.

Observation. The Manager was unable to provide a record of the fire drills and emergency drill for the year of 2024, for Licensing to review. Licensing suggested to keep them in a labelled folder, like all the other facility documents.

Corrective action. Ensure that records are available for Licensing to review.
