  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. IT bathroom: • Exposed spray foam prevents proper cleaning and sanitization. • Broken floor tile creates a tripping hazard.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that above items will be addressed in the next few weeks.

  A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

  Observation. IT bathroom: Water temperature measured at 51.3°C.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that the water temperature will be adjusted.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Records of the annual emergency drill were not available for review. Licensing reviewed the difference between monthly fire drills and the annual emergency drill with the Manager.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that the annual emergency drill will be practiced and recorded accordingly.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. In the outdoor play space the following was observed: -Wooden planters that are rotten and no longer being used; exposed nails. -The shed in the I/T yard has boards that are rotting and are no longer secured, paint chipping. -Many areas of the wire fencing has become loose from the main horizontal wire at the bottom, there are some wire ends exposed and some of the gaps between the fence and the ground have become larger over time creating potential entrapment risk. -The lower siding on the raised portable is breaking away in many places causing disrepair and sharp edges. (The Manager identified that this has been caused by animals going in and out from below the portable.)

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that the outdoor maintenance would be completed shortly and will provide Licensing with an update by August 16, 2024

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The counter top in the 3-5 washroom is chipped and cannot be sanitized effectively. The Manager stated there is a plan to have this counter top replaced. There are 2 areas in the infant/toddler small playroom that the drywall is chipped and exposed The 2 couches in the school age room are showing signs of wear and tear and cannot be sanitized effectively.

  Corrective action. Ensure the facility is in good repair at all times and effective sanitization can occur.
