Observation. Hole in netting of playpen.
Corrective action. Ensure sleep equipment is in good repair.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Garbage bags and cleaning supplies accessible under bathroom sink.
Corrective action. Manager will lock bathroom cupboard.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Licensing reviewed eight child files, two were missing emergency contacts. One child did not have doctor's information.
Corrective action. Ensure all child files are up to date.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following was observed outside: -there is a blue rope that is wrapped around one of the fence posts with some of it hanging down accessible to children The following was observed inside: -in the nap room there are two tall shelves that have items stored on top that do not appear secure and steady -blind cords are accessible to children in the nap room - corrected at time of inspection
Corrective action. Licensee explained they will remove the rope and the items on top of the shelf
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following was observed inside: -one cable plug outlet is exposed as the cover plate is not flush to the wall -bifold closet door does not close all the way allowing for potential pinching of fingers -lightbulbs need replacing in the washroom used by children, observed to be a little dark
Corrective action. Licensee explained they will be fixing the above and will submit written response how they have been fixed
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. The following was observed in the backyard: -the fence that encloses the backyard is in poor repair -in multiple panels there are pieces of wood missing, rotting and exposing rough and sharp edges -many pieces of wood within each panel are loose, only attached at the top and allowing entrapment space -one panel is completely missing and is covered with a piece of cardboard that is not secure
Corrective action. Licensee is aware that the fence needs to be replaced and will be submitting a plan.
11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. There are two children's toothbrushes stored in the same rinsing cup.
Corrective action. Licensee explained they will store all toothbrushes separately.
