• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed one staff file, and it did not contain immunization status.

  Corrective action. Obtain immunization status.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed one staff file , and the criminal record was expired.

  Corrective action. Obtain up to date CRC.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The following was observed outside: -wood chips appear bare in some areas -rope hanging accessible to children The following was observed inside: -hygiene products accessible to children

  Corrective action. Licensee explained more wood chips will be put into the yard soon and the rope and hygiene product will be made inaccessible.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Throughout the inside of the facility, there is wear and tear on the walls where paint has chipped away and does not present as a smooth surface which may be difficult to clean and sanitize.

  Corrective action. Licensee explained she has a plan in place to paint and fix all the holes and dents in the walls.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

  Observation. The water temperature in the washroom measured at 62.9 degress celcius

  Corrective action. Ensure water is not above 49 degress celcius

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Departure times were mising from May 9 and May 10 attendace was not recorded.

  Corrective action. Ensure to record attendance daily and at the time of arrival and departure

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. There was a container of lysol wipes on the kitchen counter accessible to children

  Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to hazardous substances.

  Observation. - The blind cords were hanging down on the 2 windows in the front room. - there was a piece of a gutter spout accessible to children in the outdoor play area

  Corrective action. Ensure the environment is safe at all times while children are in care

  Corrective action. Ensure all children's files have this information documented

  Observation. One staff file was missing certificate validation

  Corrective action. Ensure evidence of this is on file
