  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Play mats worn.

  Corrective action. Manager will replace the mats.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Three employee files were reviewed, one did not have a validation for their certificate.

  Corrective action. Manager will obtain validation.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Three employee files were reviewed, two did not have immunization status.

  Corrective action. Manager will obtain records.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. - There is an area in the fence that one panel is leaning and not very stable; there is a loose 2x4 as well as a metal piece accessible in this area as well. - there are some allan blocks stacked against the fence that could cause injury to a child - there are newly constructed stairs in the backyard that go upstairs; there is no gate at the bottom of the stairs

  Corrective action. Ensure a safe environment at all times while children are in care

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

  Observation. An emergency drill was not practiced last year

  Corrective action. Ensure to practice and record an emergency drill annually.

  A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

  Observation. There is one red table that is starting to chip in areas and the one corner was peeling and sticking out.

  Corrective action. Ensure all equipment and furnishing is in good repair and can be cleaned and sanitized effectively.
