Observation. One medication form is incomplete. There is no information regarding the reason for the medication, possible side effects, or when to administer the medication to the child. Incomplete medication forms increase the risk of medication errors, potentially leading to serious harm. Submit to licensing by June 9, 2026, a plan that outlines how the medication forms will be completed to ensure all the information is included.

Observation. Some staff files are incomplete. Information missing includes evidence of reference checks, evidence of compliance with the province's immunization control programs and an expired criminal record clearance letter. Incomplete staff screening may compromise the health, and safety of children. Submit to licensing by June 9, 2026, evidence the missing information has been obtained and is in the staff files. Additionally, submit a plan that outlines how staff files will be regularly maintained and reviewed to ensure the files contain the required information.

Observation. The facility supplies an afternoon snack to the children which parents are not not notified of. Parents must be informed of all food and drink given to the children in case of unexpected food allergies or sensitivities. Submit to licensing by June 9, 2026, evidence of a plan that outlines how parents will be informed of all food and drink given at the facility.

Observation. It was observed some mats located with the sleep cots are ripped and the inner foam is exposed. The exposed inner foam material is not able to be properly sanitized which poses a risk to children. Submit to licensing by June 2, 2025 evidence the mats have been repaired or made inaccessible to the children.

Observation. One staff file is missing evidence of having complied with the Provinces immunization control programs. The system in place for ensuring character references are kept for each employee appears to be ineffective. Three staff files did not contain evidence of character references. One staff certificate validation has not been updated and verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the ECE registry.

Licensing Officer reviewed this section with the licensee contact and emphasized that a written consent is required (as opposed to an electronic response).

Observation. It was observed at the time of inspection that staff files are missing required records. Licensing Officer discussed in detail with the licensee contact what pieces of information are missing from the relevant staff files. Please refer to Section 19 of the Child Care Licensing Regulation to ensure all staff files are complete.

Observation. It is alleged that after all qualified staff have gone home at 3p.m., the facility is using unqualified staff to supervise the children until closing at 430p.m. This was confirmed as true by the licensee contact. As a result of this investigation, non-compliance to Section 34 of the Child Care Licensing regulation is substantiated.

Observation. Diaper station is currently set up in the hallway, while the nearest wash basin is several feet away in the bathroom. Please ensure that children are being changed at a diapering station that is within close proximity to a wash basin.
