    Observation. Upon Licensing's arrival, staff was in program space with some children and three children were in courtyard unsupervised. Staff brought children back into the group.

    Observation. Facility policy on Active Play includes "at least 30 minutes of active outdoor play as part of our regular routine". Staff informed Licensing that the children do not regularly play outdoors.

    Observation. Staff informed Licensing that children are not always provided with outdoor play periods. Staff indicated that "their" playground is unavailable to them to play on. Licensing observed that one playground is unavailable for children to play on but there is another playground, a large field and other outdoor play areas available for children's play.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Disorganized state of supplies and equipment in program space would prove to be difficult to maintain Covid-19 sanitation guidelines

    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. Observation: Licensing Officer (LO) observed the following: - shelving in at least three areas of the classroom have multiple items stored overhead of children. Some heavy (cardboard box with clay and clay tools) and some unsecured (multiple baskets - some with stored items), items placed in the shelving unit are also not secured. All items have potential to fall and pose hazard to children's safety. - speaker tower on lower shelf. Multiple cords from speaker hanging across items on shelf and haphazard across floor to plug in wall. Speaker has potential to fall and pose hazard to children's safety. - fan on floor. Multiple cords around fan. Tripping hazard. - clutter on floor in front of emergency equipment. - no designated space for children's belongings. Coats and backpacks hung on backs of chair and dropped on floor. LO observed children tripping over backpacks.

    Observation. Temporary plywood wall has exposed plug and no plug covers. If exposed outlet is live, it may not be code compliant in an occupied building and should be addressed immediately.
