    Observation. Children have access to an unlicensed area via an unlocked door. To ensure the safety of children, the unlicensed upper level containing private residential space, must be inaccessible. During the inspection the door was closed with a child safe handle, making it inaccessible. Children have access to various hazards including, sharp knives in a kitchen drawer, an unsecured electrical cord in a play room, and uncovered electrical outlets. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of children hazardous items must be inaccessible. Submit by March 06, 2026, confirmation that hazardous items are not longer accessible to children.

    Observation. The medical insurance number is missing for one child. Ensure all required information is collected prior to a child starting. Submit by March 11, 2026, confirmation that the missing information has been added to the child’s record. None of the seven children are signed in today, March 03, 2026. Accurate child attendance records including the time of arrival and departure is required to be maintained. Submit by March 11, 2026, confirmation that all child attendance records are accurate.

    Observation. One educator certificate was not displayed. Corrected during the inspection.

    Observation. During the month of February, there were several days 4 or 5 children under 36 months were in care. Multi-Age care is only permitted to have 3 children under 36 months.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. Employee records were reviewed during the inspection. A current valid first aid certificate for one employee was missing, and the immunization status for another employee was missing. The Licensee has now provided these via email.

  • C6.1 - Are acceptable hygiene practices maintained?Non-critical

    Observation. Children dried their hands on a communal hand towel. This poses a risk of cross contamination.

    Observation. Child Care Licensing Regulation, of the 8 children in care only three children can be younger than 36 months. There were five children under 36 months in attendance on the day of the inspection.

    Observation. One early childhood educator certificate had not been validated through the BC ECE registry.

    Observation. Child registration records were reviewed, some were missing accurate start dates. When medication is administered, there is not an established system to record the amount and time medication was given. One child did not have a digital image able to be used in an emergency.

    Observation. One large storage shelf and a set of lockers are not secured to the wall to reduce them from being pulled over. A kitchen cupboard door was not locked, making chemicals accessible to children - corrected during the inspection.

    Observation. There were 5 children under 48 months being provided with care.

    Observation. A check of child files was completed, and some immunization information was missing.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. A tall shelf in the play/nap space was not secured to the wall, and posed a potential risk to children's safety if pushed over. The door leading to the basement was unlocked, giving children access to unlicensed space - corrected during the inspection. Various items within the first aid kits had expired, some were removed during the inspection. The diaper mat was not being cleaned between uses, and was being used by more than one child - corrected during the inspection. Children had access to chemicals stored under the kitchen sink - corrected during the inspection. Children had access to a hot element at the front of the stove. Children had access to sharp knives on the draining rack - corrected during the inspection. The hot water was tested and found to be 54 degrees Celsius.
