  Observation. On the playground there is a wooden climbing / platform feature. It has exposed nails, sharp splintering wood pieces that could scratch and injure the children.

  Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

  Observation. There is one child who is new to the program and requires an Epi Pen for an Anaphylaxis allergy. The documents were present, yet incomplete. The parent had no yet provided an Epi pen to the program. The child's symptoms had not been indicated on the care plan. There is diaper cream present without signed consent.

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. The program has been using a potty in the classroom and not taking children to the bathroom. There is a handwashing sink in the classroom available to wash hands however the potty sits on the floor and the potty is used in the classroom. Several months ago a conversation was had and a consequent policy developed to allow diapers to be changed in the classroom on Wednesday afternoon from 1-3:30. During this time the church was using the washroom typically accessed by the daycare, and also most of the children were asleep during this time. However, now that the church is a little busier, the staff reported that they no longer use the washroom adjacent to the classroom. There is a diaper change table set up in the classroom with a handwashing sink beside it.
