The certificates, or copies of certificates, of early childhood educators and assistants are prominently displayed in the facility. [CCLR 11(4)]

Observation. There was no certification posted for staff working.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. In the main play space is an air conditioner and it is surrounded by a thin wood structure. The edges of this wood are separating and those edges are rough and could scratch / pinch the children, this wood is accessible to children. There is no evidence of the temperature in the fridge. There are cords hanging down in the nap room accessible to children.

Ground Surfacing: The depth of loose fill material (protective surfacing) meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of the Standard of Practice. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. The depth of the fill in and around the climber is minimal and can easily be pushed aside to reveal the ground.

There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

The licensee has written, parental consent to release a child to someone other than the parent. [CCLR Sec. 57(3)(b)]

Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. No inspections of the outdoor space are being conducted or recorded.

Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

Observation. There did not appear to be a record of fire drills or emergency drills recorded.
